Baltimore Ravens: Marlon Humphrey, CB

If you’re a fan of the Baltimore Ravens, you likely love Marlon Humphrey and the physical style of play he demonstrates. However, most other fan bases have a different opinion of him — and that would be of one who gets away with some of the most questionable play calls each year.

Humphrey is very good at getting away with it too, and even when the league let coaches challenge pass interference, the refs still somehow thought he did no wrong despite video evidence of him holding onto his receiver.

Like most players on this list, Humphrey is far from a bad player. He does have solid numbers in five seasons with 276 tackles, 64 pass defenses, and nine interceptions. He also had an unbelievable eight forced fumbles in 2020.

The problem is that he does find himself getting flagged from time to time and he’s more of a savvy player who gets away with pushing the boundaries rather than an elite shutdown cornerback, which is what he gets credited for being oftentimes.

However, reputation and narrative are huge in the NFL. Teams that are known for playing tough and physical — but really good — defense oftentimes get away with more than others. Humphrey has had no problem using this to his advantage.
