The Denver Broncos were the most improved team this offseason, as they added Russell Wilson to the mix and became Super Bowl contenders. Here’s why.

After six years of not having much at quarterback, the Denver Broncos all of a sudden have a Hall of Fame caliber one in the house.

Russell Wilson has found himself in Denver after 10 years in Seattle, where he appeared in two Super Bowls, won one of them, and won over 100 regular season games.

He is likely to win a ton more games in Denver and does have a very good chance at winning another Super Bowl.

While some in the NFL landscape might tell me to pump the brakes a bit, I think it’s fully possible for the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl this year, in 2022.

Here’s why.

The first and most obvious reason is the last two NFL seasons.  2020 saw Tom Brady join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he led his team to a Super Bowl title in his first season.

In 2021, the same thing happened, except it was Matthew Stafford moving to the Los Angeles Rams.  The Rams won 12 games in the regular season en route to their Super Bowl title.

If the pattern were to continue to follow, that would put someone like Russell Wilson in the perfect position to win the big game once again.

Secondly, Wilson has done it before.  He’s 9-7 in the playoffs with 25 touchdown passes.  He’s already won a Super Bowl and went to another.  It’s not like the debate is ‘Can Russell Wilson get to a Super Bowl?’

Well, he can, because he did, so he knows what it takes to get there and to win the game.

Thirdly, the Broncos aren’t just a team with a good quarterback.

They have solidified the positions needed to win in today’s NFL.

Players like Garett Bolles, Patrick Surtain II, Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon, KJ Hamler, Bradley Chubb, and Randy Gregory, among a few others, play the most important positions on the roster, and the Denver Broncos have solid or very good players at these positions.

The team does not have a glaring weakness–I don’t think it would be fair to say there is a position on the roster that is going to significantly hold the team back.

The most important positions on the roster are filled with good players.

Russell Wilson has won a Super Bowl before, and if the 2020 and 2021 seasons were any indications, he’s got a shot at leading his team to the big game in 2022.
