7 NFL breakout players at WR in the AFC for the 2022 season

NFL breakout receiver no. 4: Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans

Take just about all of AJ Browns’ targets last year in Tennessee and just shift them over to Treylon Burks this season. That’s how I feel the Titans will run their offense in 2022, especially with Robert Woods coming off an ACL tear.

The Titans know how to win games and they know how to do it with a vanilla-run offense led by Derrick Henry getting anywhere from 24-27 carries a game.

But Burks now presents the vanilla Titans with an extra layer of offensive prowess as he possesses the ability to both run as a back AND catch as a receiver.

He’s big, he’s fast, he’s physical, and he loves the ball in his hands. The former Arkansas standout is almost a shoo-in to break out this season given the fact that after Henry, he’s pretty much going to be the Titans offense.

NFL breakout WR no. 5: Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

Tim Patrick is down for the season and now the Broncos have the best quarterback they’ve had since Peyton Manning- one who also possesses one of the sweetest deep balls in football in Russell Wilson.

Sutton has arguably already broken onto the scene being that he’s got a Pro Bowl selection, but I feel this season he will break out even more and secure a spot in the top 15 of receivers in this league thanks to finally having a competent quarterback throwing to him.

Sutton was only targeted 98 times in 2021 after being targeted 124 times in his Pro Bowl year of 2019. I wouldn’t be surprised if those targets doubled this season thanks to Patrick’s injury and the relationship Sutton and Wilson are already developing in training camp.

I’m not privy to Broncos training camp everyday like some other folks, but everything I hear is that Russ is throwing to Sutton all the time. Russ-to-Sutton is going to be one of the better connections in 2022.
