Chicago Bears to watch vs. Seahawks: Kyler Gordon, Cornerback
The rookies selected by Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles made great debuts last week. They played a hand in the team scoring 19 straight points and winning the game.
One rookie who didn’t get to play was cornerback Kyler Gordon. He was nursing an injury and the coaches did not want to push him. He is itching to get in on the party. Sitting and watching from the sideline made him restless.
"I was itching to go be out there. It just looked so fun, like, ‘I wish I was playing right now,’ just waiting to go out there. It was cool to see the players out, the people that I know, the people I used to watch in college and middle school, just be like, ‘Damn, I’m here. It’s time. I’m ready to do this stuff.’ It’s exciting."
Poles selected Gordon with the first of his two second-round picks. He wants to show that he too can make as good an impression as the other rookies did in their debut.
At least now Gordon gets to make his professional debut close to home. He went to high school in Everett, WA, just 30 miles north of Seattle. He’ll have a nice group of family and friends at the game to watch him.
Gordon says he is ready to start his professional career. We’ll see if he really is.
