Chicago Bears to watch vs. Seahawks: Velus Jones Jr. Wide Receiver

Staying on the rookie debuts scenario, Velus Jones Jr. is another one who missed the party last week. He looks to add to Poles’ list of young players giving Chicago Bears fans hope for the future.

Jones sat and watched as Tajae Sharpe took full advantage of his shot. With a number of wide receivers out and Darnell Mooney only getting a limited number of snaps, Sharpe got in on a lot of snaps and made a big impression. He made two incredible circus-like catches.

Now Jones wants to make his own impression.

Despite not playing in the preseason opener, Jones says the experience was still a good one. He got some mental reps and he soaked everything up.

"It was cool just being out at Soldier Field, seeing another opponent. We’ve been going against each other for so long. That was like my first NFL game I’ve ever been to. It was cool, though, just seeing how everybody operates. The vets, seeing them warm up and their game-day routines…I feel like mental reps are really important, especially when you’re off to the side."

Drafting Jones in the third round was a controversial move by Poles. Jones wants to show everyone that the confidence the general manager has in him is well-founded. If Sharpe continues to impress and then Jones gets in on it as well, things might look up for Fields and the offense.
