Chicago Bears to watch vs. Seahawks: Jack Sanborn, Linebacker

The player who opened most eyes last weekend was linebacker Jack Sanborn. The man was everywhere, making plays against the run, against the pass, and even on special teams.

Sanborn had two turnovers. He intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. Additionally, he recorded seven tackles, one of them for loss.

Sanborn is a local kid, having attended Lake Zurich high school. He went to college in Wisconsin. He is living out every local kid’s dream of playing for the Chicago Bears.

After Sanborn’s success in the first game, he needs to show that it wasn’t an aberration. He needs to show that he deserves to be on the field with better talent. He earned more snaps to show that.

Sanborn’s performance quickly made him a fan favorite. There is always that one underdog in camp who makes a big impression early and the fans love him. They want to see the guy go from unknown to a contributor on the field. This preseason it is Sanborn’s turn.

Can Sanborn stack another good performance on top of last week? If he does then he has a very good chance of making the team. The Bears are thin at linebacker so if Sanborn can show he is a good backup then that solidifies the unit a little bit more.
