Chicago Bears to watch vs. Seahawks: Jaquan Brisker, Safety

Jaquan Brisker is another rookie who wants to show that his success last week wasn’t a one-hit-wonder. Unlike Sanborn, Brisker is a starter and an integral part of the defense.

Brisker looked like a seasoned veteran against the Chiefs. He baited the quarterback into almost throwing an interception, single-handedly forced a three-and-out, and made some big hits without committing silly penalties.

Brisker showed that he could not only play in the box but also play coverage. Despite saying he was nervous early in the game and cost the defense a touchdown on the first drive, he showed that he has some elite talent.

It’ll be interesting to see if we see more of Brisker with Eddie Jackson. With Brisker playing well it frees Jackson up to concentrate on the ball. When he did that he was an All-Pro free safety. We haven’t seen that Jackson in the last couple of seasons. Brisker can help him return to form.

Brisker also helps bring back the Monsters of the Midway defense. He is a heavy hitter, as witnessed by the hits that spun ball carriers last week. Chicago Bears fans love seeing the hard hits. As mentioned, he made those big hits without also committing personal fouls. If he can continue to make the hard hits and avoid penalties, Brisker will become a fan favorite quickly.

Let’s hope that Brisker picks up where he left off last week. The defense sorely needs him to do so.
