Washington Commanders top offseason pickup: WR Jahan Dotson (Penn State)

In three NFL seasons, wide receiver Terry McLaurin has already played with his share of quarterbacks. The 2019 third-round pick from Ohio State has not been a frequent visitor to the end zone during his NFL career. In 46 regular-season contests, he has caught only 16 touchdown passes.

But in those outings, the former Buckeye has totaled an impressive 222 grabs – good for a combined 3,090 yards and a solid 13.9 average yards per reception. The Commanders rewarded McLaurin with a three-year, $68.36 million contract extension in late June (via Spotrac) which now keeps him off the open market for a few more years.

In April, with the 16th overall selection in the NFL Draft, the franchise turned to the same conference which featured McLaurin and grabbed Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson. The 5’11”, 178-pound performer enjoyed a breakout year in his final season with the Nittany Lions. In 12 contests, he hauled in 91 passes for 1,182 yards and a dozen touchdowns.

In his final three seasons with the school, Dotson amassed 25 scoring grabs in 34 outings. His numbers increased in each season at Penn State. And the productive performer has been opening eyes this summer.
