Xavier Rhodes, CB: Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears have shown in recent weeks that they’re not opposed to making some moves for relatively big-name players to upgrade their roster as they see fit. Rookie general manager Ryan Poles has added veteran Riley Reiff to his offensive line and he also traded for wide receiver N’Keal Harry.
Why not reunite Xavier Rhodes with Matt Eberflus?
The Bears’ new head coach has been the defensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts where Xavier Rhodes played the last couple of seasons. If the Bears prefer rookie Kyler Gordon in the nickel role, then Rhodes could be an ideal fit on the outside at cornerback opposite Jaylon Johnson. There’s certainly a significant connection here between Rhodes and Eberflus so we’ll see if something gets done.
Jason Pierre-Paul, EDGE: Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens’ current edge group is, let’s call it a work in progress. The Ravens have not shied away from adding veterans off the edge when the price is right, including veteran Justin Houston who has still been productive.
The Ravens currently need a boost in the depth department off the edge nad Jason Pierre-Paul remains a viable option for them. He visited the team back in June and although nothing materialized at the time, this could be an important addition for a team like the Ravens with the regular season approaching.
The team obviously expects big things out of Odafe Oweh in his second year, and they have Houston back along with Tyus Bowser, but Pierre-Paul has played in a lot of big games and come up with a lot of big plays in his NFL career. He’d be a great pickup for Baltimore at this stage.
