Chicago Bears: 5 Things to look for in preseason finale
Justin Fields has his final tuneup
As mentioned earlier, quarterback Justin Fields made his first career start in Cleveland last season but it did not go well. He completed just six of his 20 pass attempts for 68 yards. The Browns sacked him nine times. Overall, the Bears had just one net passing yard. On offense, they had a total of just 47 yards.
This might just be a preseason game but we have to think that Fields wants to have a better showing this week. Games like that one stick in one’s mind, especially when it was a debut.
The reason for the poor showing in Cleveland last season could be explained by showing how poorly former head coach Matt Nagy prepared for the game. He had his system set up for Andy Dalton, who is a much different quarterback than Fields. There were no rollouts and no running backs and tight ends chipping the pass rushers to give the offensive line some help.
This season, the offense is tailored-made for Fields’ skills. He wants to show that the confidence and hope the Chicago Bears and their fans have in him is well-placed.
Fields wants to come back to Cleveland and succeed almost as big as he failed last year. While it’s just the preseason, he wants to end it giving Chicago Bears Nation some hope to go into the future.
