Cuts are coming up for all 32 teams and while many want to sneak players onto their practice squad, these three San Francisco 49ers might find new homes if cut. Thursday night ended up being the final preseason game for the San Francisco 49ers, but it was nothing to go crazy over. They lost to the Houston Texans 17-0 and finished with just 257 yards passing and 51 rushing.

However, the preseason isn’t about wins or statistics. It’s about figuring out which players are going to make the 53-man roster. And for some players, it’s about putting something on tape so another team will be interested should they fail to make the cut.

With that being said, we look at three members of the 49ers that would surely be scooped up if cut ahead of Week 1.

3. Jason Poe, OG

Undrafted out of Mercer, Jason Poe is an undersized guard at 6-foot-1 and 300-pounds. So far in camp and the preseason, he hasn’t allowed this to slow him down at all.

He’s proven to be an effective and powerful blocker, excelling when asked to pull in the run game. He’s fun to watch as he takes on his blocks with enthusiasm and even drew praise from veteran Trent Williams, who likes the confidence Poe plays with.

It’s not as if Poe is ready to start right now but if he were to be waived, there would be no shortage of teams willing to put in a claim for his services. He has all the tools to be a starter one day and the 49ers should be willing to let him develop on their bench.
