6. Los Angeles Chargers vs. San Francisco 49ers

Two young quarterbacks with the ability to light up a scoreboard going against strong defenses? That sounds like a formula for a great Super Bowl matchup. The fact that it would be two California-based teams that met years ago in a lopsided Super Bowl only makes it more interesting.

Back in Super Bowl XXIX, the 49ers, led by Steve Young, completely dismantled the Chargers — who were based out of San Diego at the time — by a score of 49-26. Now if the two teams were to meet, the Bolts would likely be the favorites.

They currently have Justin Herbert, who is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the game. He has plenty of talent around him on offense with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler. The defense is also improved as they added Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson in the offseason to a unit that already had Derwin James and Joey Bosa.

For San Francisco, they’re turning the ball over to Trey Lance, who is still an unknown. However, they were in the NFC Championship Game last season, so he’s inheriting a strong team. Their defense can be imposing with Nick Bosa (who would love to face his brother in the Super Bowl), Arik Armstead, and Fred Warner.

They’ve also always had an elite running game under Kyle Shanahan and Deebo Samuel is one of the most dynamic players in the game. That could be a formula for a memorable title game.
