On Sunday there was some pretty scary news going around. According to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington, rookie running back Brian Robinson of the Washington Commanders was shot in what is believed to be an attempted robbery.

As Finlay states, Robinson was shot multiple times. The good news is it was not life-threatening. We’ve already learned that the shooting happened in Washington D.C. and that Robinson is in stable condition. It wasn’t made clear where on his body the running back was shot, however.

The Commanders selected Robinson in the third round (98th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. Despite Antonio Gibson being on the roster, Robinson had clearly already worked himself into a large role in the offense. He was getting heavy touches in the preseason, and impressing with them.

However, this is another perfect time to remind everyone that football is just a sport. It’s just a game. There are quite a few things that are much more important in the world, and this is one of them.

Now isn’t the time to worry about the Washington depth chart, or how this will affect the first few games (or however long his recovery takes). And it’s definitely not the time to be talking about your fantasy team or complaining about something in that realm.

We’ve already gotten an update from the head coach of the Commanders, Ron Rivera. Rivera took to Twitter to tell fans that he just visited with Robinson, and things were looking positive.

This is some great news right here. The fact that Robinson was already in a condition to meet and talk with people must mean that it’s definitely not anything too crazy. And he seems to be in extremely high spirits (all things considered).

We can only hope that the positive updates continue to pour in. It sounds like Brian Robinson is already getting the urge to return to the field and his teammates on the Washington Commanders. So hopefully he can do that soon and get back to what he loves.
