6. Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State

Ohio State won ugly with a great defensive performance. The man leading the charge was Tommy Eichenberg. If the name sounds familiar, he dominated with 14 tackles in the Rose Bowl. He picked up where he left off against Notre Dame. Eichenberg loaded up the box score with his performance. He finished with nine tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for a loss.

The senior Buckeye is an old-school downhill backer who makes plays against the run. He’s tenacious and strong with a stout frame, standing 6-2 and 235-pounds. The brother of Miami Dolphins Liam Eichenberg could get the attention of the Senior Bowl committee after his week one performance.

5. Brenton Cox Jr, Edge, Florida

Versatile is the first thing that comes to mind with Florida Gators edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. The senior prospect continued where he left off in a season where he finished with 41 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, and eight sacks. As a unit, the Gators’ defense allowed 230-yards on the ground, but Cox was part of the reason the Gators held off Utah for the upset. The Gators star was all over the field, finishing the game with 10 tackles, including .5 for a loss. He’s a solid edge rusher who can also drop in coverage. If he can continue to make plays and rack up some sack numbers, he could easily become a name to watch at the Senior Bowl.
