NFL Week 1 overreaction no. 2: The Rams will miss the playoffs

There was no cure for a Super Bowl hangover for the Los Angeles Rams. On a night when they were celebrating their title, the Buffalo Bills came in to ruin their party. The 2021 AFC East champs made the Rams look like they were on rookie. Josh Allen destroyed a defense that a season ago helped lead the Rams to the Super Bowl.

On a night the Rams should have made a statement, Allen posted historical numbers, according to Stats by STATS. That’s not a good look for a defense that once struck fear in the hearts of opponents. Jaylen Ramsey was part of the problem and looked to be a step or two behind the position., Stephen Diggs was thankful for it. With his play in the Super Bowl and week one, Ramsey isn’t looking like the most feared corner in the NFL.

Their revamped offensive line missed its best player, Andrew Whitworth. Without him, Von Miller looked like the Super Bowl-whisperer he was made out to be. The Bills’ defense is back and better than ever, and their offense is explosive, led by their MVP candidate, Josh Allen. Meanwhile, Matt Stafford has the Rams looking at a developmental quarterback in next year’s draft. They have a tough division with teams that also took L’s in week one, but they looked the worse.
