It might be too early to panic over an 0-2 start, but these three teams can’t afford to find themselves in such a hole at the end of NFL Week 2

With 17 games on the schedule now, staring 0-2 might not be the death sentence it once was in the NFL. Of course, that doesn’t mean it won’t put some teams in a hole that will be very hard to crawl out of.

Here we look at three teams that can’t afford to suffer a second loss in Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season.

3. San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers made a big commitment to Trey Lance when they took him third overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He started two games during his rookie campaign but this offseason, they made it known that he was going to be the new face of the franchise.

That meant his start in Week 1 against Chicago was the first where it was officially his team. It wasn’t an ideal start since the game was played on one of the wettest fields we have seen. It was so bad that after securing the win, the Bears took a swim on the field.

This week, the Niners are at home against the Seattle Seahawks, who secured a win of their own on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos.

Not only would a loss be tough since it would mean they’re 0-2 in the Lance era, but it would also give them a loss in the division, and this could end up being a tight race if the 49ers play to their potential. That divisional win could come in handy down the road.
