2023 NFL mock draft: Cowboys land WR, Lions land star QB prospect
28. Kansas City Chiefs: Gervon Dexter, DL, Florida
The Kansas City Chiefs made two significant moves to really upgrade their defense in the 2022 offseason when they drafted cornerback Trent McDuffie and pass rusher George Karlaftis. Although Kansas City has been able to make some big moves on that side of the ball, they might need to continue pouring some of their most valuable draft assets there.
Specifically, if they’re faced with the chance to draft Gervon Dexter, that could give them a borderline unfair of interior defensive linemen between him and Chris Jones. Dexter’s style of play is somewhat reminiscent of Jones and with his athleticism and length on the defensive interior, he could be a problem for teams at the next level.
29. Green Bay Packers: Tucker Kraft, TE, South Dakota State
Although Tucker Kraft suffered an injury against the Iowa Hawkeyes that is expected to sideline him until November, there is still hope that he could emerge as a top 32 player from the 2023 NFL Draft class. Kraft was dominant in the 2021 season for the Jackrabbits, catching 65 passes for 773 yards and six touchdowns. An injury was arguably the worst possible news for a prospect like Kraft, who could have ridden some significant offseason hype to a sure-fire first-round status in 2023.
With that being said, we’ll see what happens when he does come back in November from this ankle injury. The injury does complicate his Draft status, no question, but teams have seen what he can do. For the Green Bay Packers, Kraft would be a much-needed dynamic weapon for Aaron Rodgers. Although there’s hope for guys like Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, the Packers’ offensive weaponry is horrendous right now (outside of their RBs) and everyone can see it.
