3. Seattle Seahawks, Geno Smith

In week one at home, the Seahawks did what they often do with the 12th Man at their back, win. After being labeled a bust and sitting on the bench as a backup, Geno Smith won the camp battle. He took the field with emotions riding high, playing a solid game. He went 23/28 for 195-yards and two touchdowns, completing passes to nine different targets.

After an excellent week, one by his standard, Smith leveled out. Winning games against AFC opponents is okay, but what matters more is winning the division.

Against the 49ers, he took a step backward. He didn’t register a single point, and the offense looked anemic. Smith finished 24/30 for 197-yards and an interception. There’s no excuse for a team with Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, and a young athletic tight end, Noah Fant. The Seahawks have the potential to be an explosive offense.

Drew Lock is waiting to get his shot in an offense with Noah Fant, a player he played with in Denver. No, they likely won’t win a ton of games, but he’s a better athlete with a bigger arm. Pete Carroll may want to see what Lock can do with Metcalf and Lockett.
