1. Roquan Smith, LB, Chicago Bears

Before the season began, Roquan Smith had requested a trade from the Chicago Bears, but they weren’t willing to move him. The talented linebacker then decided to play out the season and hit NFL free agency in 2023.

When his contract is up, it’s highly unlikely Smith will want to return to the Bears since he found their negotiations less than ideal.

"“I thought [the contract discussions were] very distasteful to say the least,” Smith told reporters via Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports. “Wasn’t what I anticipated nor what I expected from the situation. … Now, I’m just shifting my focus to the season and more so just focused on being the best teammate that I can be to those guys in the locker room. It’s the last year of my deal and I’m just going to take it, run with it and bet on myself like I’ve always done.”"

Chicago could use the franchise tag to keep him but that’s not going to make him feel any better. It also wouldn’t be enough for them to turn their team around. As mentioned when speaking about Quinn, the Bears need to build around Fields to see what they really have.

Trading Smith would likely net some solid capital and free up a lot of money they wouldn’t have to spend next year.
