Chicago Bears way-too-early 2023 Mock Draft: Get Justin Fields help
Round 2 Pick 52: Rakim Jarrett, WR, Maryland
Finally, the Windy City Faithful can stop throwing a tantrum about not getting wide receivers. Yes, Velus Jones Jr is there, but he hasn’t shown much this season and will likely be used on special teams more. Additionally, Darnell Mooney hasn’t dropped jaws this season, either. As such, the Bears will need a boost in their corps.
That’s where Rakim Jarrett comes in. A sharp route-runner with good ball skills. Not to mention explosive playmaking opportunities. When Jarrett gets the ball in his hands, more often than not, good things tend to happen. In 2021, Jarrett had 62 catches for over 800 yards and five scores over 13 games. His best trait is his ability to take the top off a defense. The Bears need that type of weapon.
Sure, Jarrett is not a tall wide receiver, but being 6’0 won’t hurt in any way. His route-running ability will serve him well in Chicago’s wide-zone scheme. Also, you can expect to see him get reps early and often because of his ability to get separation quickly. Jarrett is one of the more underrated yet extremely polished wide receivers, and the Bears would be landing a steal here.
