The Tennesse Titans were the top club in the AFC South the last two years but it looks like their reign has come to an end with Jacksonville Jaguars taking over the top spot in the division. Although the Jags shut out the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, it wasn’t until they beat the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3 that they started to turn heads.

Keep in mind that things are fluid and Jacksonville won’t remain in first place if they start losing. Similarly, there’s plenty of time for their division rivals to catch up, with that in mind, here’s an AFC South power ranking ahead of Week 4.

No. 4 team in AFC South ahead of Week 4: The Houston Texans

The Houston Texans might as well get comfortable because they might not leave the cellar soon if they keep playing the way they have over the last three weeks. You know the 2022 Texans are bad because they couldn’t even beat the Chicago Bears, a team that isn’t seemingly acquainted with the concept of the forward pass.

Talks of Davis Mills potentially being Houston’s long-term answer at the quarterback position have significantly cooled down since the offseason and his two interceptions against Chicago won’t help his case. It’s a bit early but it might be a good idea for general manager Nick Caserio to start looking for external options to replace the former Stanford Cardinal in 2022 (Jimmy Garappolo?).

Things aren’t much better on the defense. Only three clubs have allowed more points and yards than the Texans this season. On the bright side, Houston’s 2022 draft class is already yielding results. Both running back Dameon Pierce and safety Jalen Pitre had productive outings against the Bears, so at least Houston has a couple of building blocks on the roster for 2023.
