While we are only into Week 4 of the 2022 NFL season there are several quarterbacks that are not rising to the level that is expected of them. Here are the five quarterbacks that will be looking for a new team for the 2023 NFL season.

NFL quarterback #5: Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith was placed in a quarterback battle before the 2022 season began to replace Russell Wilson who left Seattle for the Denver Broncos in the offseason. Smith beat out the other quarterback, Drew Lock, and while he won the starting spot Smith and the Seahawks currently sit in last place in the NFC West at 1-2.

Smith surprisingly pulled off the win again Wilson in the home opener but since then suffered defeats to the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons. Smith has given Seahawks fans some hope after the upset against Denver however Smith, a journeyman quarterback, is not going to be a long-term solution in the northwest.

Currently, Smith ranks in the middle of quarterbacks in the league but the team’s potential can definitely be elevated with a quarterback operating at a higher level. The Seahawks enter 2023 with two first-round picks (one from Denver) so they have the ability to trade up if need be and select a top rookie quarterback. Smith could remain in Seattle as a backup as he is already familiarized with the offense or go elsewhere. Either way, don’t expect to see #7 taking snaps in 2023.
