2022 NFL Power Rankings Week 5: Cowboys crack top-10, Browns spiral downward
By Randy Gurzi
20. Atlanta Falcons
Two wins in a row for the Atlanta Falcons suddenly have things looking much brighter for them. Their latest win came against the Cleveland Browns, who fought back from a 10-0 hole to take the lead 20-17.
Atlanta continued to fight and their ground game led to two more field goals and a 23-20 victory. They ran for over 200 yards on the ground and the defense forced two turnovers, including one on the Browns’ final drive as they tried to tie the game.
A huge test awaits the Dirty Birds as they take on the Bucs in Week 5, but they have some momentum and a lot of confidence. That could help when it’s a divisional contest.
19. Seattle Seahawks
Sometimes, Geno Smith looks like a journeyman who has trouble finding a long-term home. Other times, he throws for 320 yards with a couple of touchdowns while adding another score and 49 yards on the ground. Yes, those numbers came against the Lions this weekend who are giving up a lot of yards and points but Smith looked great in their second win of the season.
Also looking solid was Rashaad Penny who ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns. As impressive as they were, the defense in Seattle is not what it used to be. They surrendered 45 points (while dropping 48 on offense) and had no answers for the run or pass. They still have a lot of work to do in order to be playoff contenders but they’ve shown a lot of fight early in the year.
