Patrick Mahomes is so gifted that we sometimes take his super-human feats for granted but that’s not the case in these Week 5 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings. In the NFL, you can’t win without great play under center. That’s why teams go a little overboard when it comes to landing their franchise signal-caller.
Knowing how important the position is, we dive into the 2022 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings at Week 5 of the 2022 NFL season.
2022 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings

32. Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
After a stellar career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Justin Fields ended up in quarterback purgatory with the Chicago Bears. While the front office has done nothing but make his job more difficult, Fields has also looked off this season.
After three games he has a stat line of 23-for-45 with 297 yards. He also has just two touchdowns and four picks. As bad as the roster is, Fields has done less in three games than some quarterbacks are doing in one.
31. Mitch Trubisky or Kenny Pickett, Pittsburgh Steelers
Fields was drafted in 2021 after Chicago gave up on Mitch Trubisky. Following a year in Buffalo where he backed up Josh Allen, Trubisky headed to Pittsburgh to take over for Ben Roethlisberger. Trubisky was benched in Week 4 and While Pickett ran a couple of touchdowns, he also had three picks — including one on his first throw. And they lost to the Jets.
30. Brian Hoyer, New England Patriots
Mac Jones was starting for the Patriots and has been rough — to say the least. He’s out with a high ankle sprain which means Brian Hoyer is now the man. He might be better than Jones is right now, but that’s not saying much. Then again, we’re not even sure if Hoyer can go after getting dinged up on Sunday, but Bailey Zappe would be in the same spot.
29. Baker Mayfield, Carolina Panthers
How bad have things gone for the Carolina Panthers? Both Sam Darnold and Matt Corral are hurt and Matt Rhule is being asked if Mayfield is going to be benched.
There were hopes that a fresh start and healthy left shoulder would help Mayfield improve but after four weeks, it’s safe to say he’s not going to get any huge offers in free agency.
