Chicago Bears: What to expect in Week 5 matchup vs Minnesota Vikings
The Chicago Bears take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5 of the 2022 NFL season. They are trying to get the offense on track and not fall below .500 for the first time this season.
The Chicago Bears take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5. They are licking their wounds after a frustrating loss to the New York Giants. The offense once again struggled. Despite amassing more yards in that game than in two of the previous three games, they failed to get into the end zone. The only points they scored came on four Michael Badgley field goals.
Badgley, by the way, was signed the day before the game after Cairo Santos had a personal matter he had to resolve.
The offense has been a sore spot for too long now. It doesn’t matter if the Bears have an offensive-minded or defensive-minded head coach, the offense continues to struggle. Of course, this is a new system that these players are learning. There will be growing pains. However, the fans have seen the team struggling for too long and their patience is wearing thin.
The Vikings are 3-1 this season but they have had their own struggles. They opened the season with an impressive blowout of the Green Bay Packers but have been up and down since. Their pass defense ranks 26th in passing yards and average passing yards allowed.
Their run defense is even worse. They rank 23rd in rush yards allowed and 31st in rushing touchdowns allowed. Last week, they squeaked by the New Orleans Saints.
So both teams enter the game with a record that many people didn’t expect or respect. Many don’t feel either team is as good as their records indicate.
Whoever loses this game will be further questioned. Both teams want to earn more respect. If Minnesota wins, they stay in the hunt in the NFC North. For the Bears, they also stay in the hunt with a win. However, with a loss, they could find themselves in last place.
Here are some things to look for in the Week 5 matchup between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings.
