2023 NFL Mock Draft: C.J. Stroud back at No. 1

30. Buffalo Bills: Antonio Johnson, S, Texas A&M
The Buffalo Bills know as well as anyone that safeties can make a huge difference for a defense. For several years, they’ve had two stellar starters but injuries have stunted things for them this season. With both Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer missing time this season, they’ve had issues on the back end. And with each of them over the age of 30, it makes sense to get younger at the position, which leads to the selection of Antonio Johnson from Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Johnson has played corner and safety, so he can find time on the field in the slot even if the Bills want to bring both Hyde and Poyer back — making it an easier transition as well to their younger starter down the road.
31. Philadelphia Eagles: Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
After addressing the defensive line earlier in this mock, the Philadelphia Eagles are back on the clock and they close out Round 1 with some help on the offensive line. Darnell Wright is a 6-foot-6, 335-pounder who excels in a run-first offense with spread concepts. That’s what the Eagles want to do with Jalen Hurts.
Wright has gone up against some of the best in the game playing for Tennessee and has always held his own. He should be a day-one starter and lock down the left side for years to come.
