2023 NFL Mock Draft: C.J. Stroud back at No. 1

2. Washington Commanders: Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern
The Washington Commanders should look for a new quarterback but they’ve made a commitment to Carson Wentz. And if they were convinced he can be the guy even after what we saw in Philly and Indy, they can also convince themselves that fixing the offensive line will help him become the quarterback he was back in 2017.
This class isn’t as deep along the offensive line as the past couple but there are some safe bets, such as Peter Skoronski from Northwestern. He’s listed at 6-foot-4 and 295-pounds, so everyone will try and say he would be better as a guard — because that’s the cool thing to say during draft time — but he’s a left tackle and should stay there.
3. Carolina Panthers: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama
It’s safe to say that the Carolina Panthers need to clean house. The Matt Rhule experiment needs to end as does the Baker Mayfield one. They need a new direction and landing Bryce Young offers them exactly that.
Young is an accurate passer who is racking up the yards for Bama and hardly turns it over. The one concern is that he’s just 6-foot-tall and 194-pounds. Carolina has seen the 6-foot-1 Mayfield get a ton of passes batted down at the line of scrimmage but that’s as much about anticipation and blocking as it is height. Young should be just fine.
