2022 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 6
Denver Broncos (2-3) at Los Angeles Chargers (3-2)
Monday, October 17, 8:15 PM ET
Things are not good for the Denver Broncos right now. Expectations are not being lived up to, to say the least. Russell Wilson has been a shell of his former self in Denver and is coming under fire from all angles. Unfortunately, a number of people in the media have started making it personal against Russ, kicking him while he’s down, which is grossly unprofessional and out of line.
At any rate, the Broncos are so bad offensively right now that nobody knows this team has one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Broncos’ defense features one of the best and most impactful pass rushes in the NFL, starring Bradley Chubb who has 5.5 sacks through the first five games. He’s joined by Baron Browning, who was an unstoppable force against the Indianapolis Colts, playing in place of the injured Randy Gregory.
Between Chubb, Browning, top pick Nik Bonitto, and potentially Jonathon Cooper and Aaron Patrick coming back from injury, the Chargers’ offensive line and Justin Herbert will have their hands full in this game. The Chargers did everything they could to blow a lead in Cleveland this past week but the Browns couldn’t capitalize late. Despite being 3-2, the Chargers are a team with serious question marks at the top with head coach Brandon Staley.
Playing at home is not a great advantage for Los Angeles, but playing a beaten and dejected Broncos team certainly is. Interestingly enough, back in the 2012 season, it was a Week 6 matchup on Monday Night Football against the Chargers that helped the 2-3, Peyton Manning-led Broncos get on track and become one of the best teams in the AFC.
Prediction: Broncos win 27-23
