No. 2 most disappointing NFL team so far: Indianapolis Colts
People out there loved them some Matt Ryan at age 37 and Frank Reich whose best days were when he was a co-offensive coordinator with Doug Pederson in Philly. The Colts came out tying with the Texans in Week 1 (should have lost) and then losing badly to the Jaguars in Week 2 scoring just……oh yeah……ZERO points.
They got blown out by the Titans at home last week and then this week they should’ve lost to the Broncos had it not been for yet another offensive disaster on the part of Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson.
This is a Colts team that rightly should be 1-4 right now and that should be unacceptable for everybody who loved this team heading into 2022.
They’re dead last in points per game at just 13.8.
They’re averaging 91.4 rushing yards per game. This being with the leading rusher from last season, Jonathan Taylor.
And, more alarmingly, they’re tied for the most sacks allowed this season at 21. Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, and Braden Smith have been on wildly successful Colts O-lines over the years. Nelson is an all-world guard in this league who, some would argue, has already set himself up to be a lock for the Hall of Fame. I get that Matt Ryan is old and can’t really move that well anymore, but it’s still shocking to me how much this vaunted Colts’ O-line has regressed.
This is a Colts team in serious trouble with the Titans figuring themselves out and the Jaguars flashing moments of brilliance. If they’re not careful, they could very well wind up third behind those two teams in the AFC South.
