NFL Power Rankings: Top 10 teams in the league heading into Week 6
We’ve seen the unpredictable happen within the first weeks of NFL football. Fourth down attempts are on the rise, field goals aren’t as easy, and protocols were questioned. While franchises adapt to the new season, which teams deserve recognition in this quarter of this week’s top 10 power rankings?
In Pittsburgh, quarterback struggles position Mike Tomlin’s squad at the bottom of the division – another hit to my predictions. Despite a few shuffles, my predictions remain accurate. A fight for separation in standings is eminent in both conferences, resulting in more competitive matchups.
Here are my updated top 10 Power Rankings leading into Week 6 of NFL action.
NFL Power Rankings No.10 New York Jets (3-2)
What are they?: A potential threat
Robert Saleh’s coaching has shifted the culture in New York. Improvements on defense show on the field, keeping the Jets in games long enough to compete until the end. Heading into Week 6, the Jets allow 320.2 total yards per game, ranking 10th in the league. Sauce Gardner and Michael Carter II lock down opposing receivers, helping the secondary limit quarterbacks to 205.8 passing yards per outing.
Offensively, Zach Wilson has weapons to sustain the long season. Corey Davis shows signs of becoming a primary receiver. His 299 receiving yards lead the core. Rookie Garrett Wilson is also determined to make an impact on offense. He’s been targeted 43 times – the most by a New York receiver this season.
Wilson also leads the team in receptions. His 23 catches equate to 282 yards and two touchdowns. Breece Hall and Michael Carter allow Mike LaFleur’s offense to remain balanced. Their 433 combined yards on the ground show signs of growth for the young offense.
NFL Power Rankings No.9 Green Bay Packers (3-2)
What are they?: Warming Up
It took a few weeks, but Aaron Rodgers managed to develop chemistry with his new receiving core. A 23-7 loss to the Vikings caused concerns for analysts that expected No.12 to show more leadership on the field. Three consecutive wins provided enough experience for Romeo Doubs to find his role within the offense. His 22 receptions are the most on the team.
Allen Lazard’s return to the gridiron helps Adam Stanovich’s offense score points. His three touchdown receptions lead the receiving core.
Defensively, Green Bay is in the league’s top tier. They allow 303.4 yards per game to opposing offenses – ranking fifth in the league. Limiting yards in the air helped Joe Barry’s squad stay on top of their opponents. Rasul Douglas and the secondary limit quarterbacks to 177 yards per game – second behind the Denver Broncos. Stout defensive performances provide Aaron Rodgers with enough time to work his magic.
