Checking in on the 2022 NFL Power Rankings after the Cleveland Browns completed their implosion and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers melted down once again.

It’s been an interesting season as several teams are sitting around the three and four-win range. But beyond the parity, there’s been some shocks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers both struggling to compete — and each lost again in Week 7.

As bad as it has been for them, at least they haven’t had a complete implosion the way the Cleveland Browns have as they were yelling at each other in the locker room following their fourth loss in a row.

With all the dust settling from this weekend, we can again check out the 2022 NFL Power Rankings as we enter Week 8.

32. Detroit Lions

For some reason, Dan Campbell gets a lot of love. Throughout the CBS broadcast, Tony Romo was singing his praises and that seems to be a common theme when those who cover the sport talk about Campbell.

What’s weird is, his record is absolutely abysmal. He’s 4-17-1 with the Detroit Lions and was 5-7 as the interim coach for Miami back in 2015. As Bill Parcells said, you are what your record says you are, and while Campbell was one of his favorite players, he’s a losing coach that fell to 1-5 with a loss in Week 7.

There will be calls for patience with Campbell, but his tough-guy approach is leading to a team that can stay in games for 45 minutes at best.

31. Houston Texans

If NFL games were three quarters instead of four, the Houston Texans would have scored a win on Sunday. They headed into the final quarter up 20-17 but then gave up 21 points in a row to the Raiders and fell to 1-4-1 on the season.

Davis Mills continues to struggle when it matters as he had 302 yards passing but threw a pick-six as they were trying to get back into it late and then had a turnover on downs on the ensuing possession.

The one good thing for the Texans is knowing that they now have only one team to beat in the race for the No. 1 pick in the Detroit Lions. C.J. Stroud would do a lot to improve the chances in Houston, then again, so would Bryce Young. As long as they stay within the top two picks, they could improve a lot in the offseason.
