Dallas Cowboys 3 dream trade targets at 2022 NFL Trade Deadline
By Randy Gurzi
1. D.J. Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
One team that’s in full-on firesale mode is the Carolina Panthers who have already traded Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals and Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers. After firing Matt Rhule, the Panthers are going to have to reset the franchise, again.
The good news for them is that their new coach could have a lot more draft picks to work with, and it could be even more if they decide to send D.J. Moore to a new home. Moore did just sign a new deal this offseason, agreeing to a three-year, $61.9 million extension.
He then started slowly but as soon as Rhule and Baker Mayfield were out, he reverted to his old ways. In Week 7, he caught seven passes for 69 yards and a touchdown in a win over Tampa Bay.
Dallas has their No. 1 wideout in CeeDee Lamb but as we’ve seen this year, they haven’t had anyone else step up and offer another home run hitter. Moore could wind up being that for them.
The questions are whether or not they can make his salary work under the cap — although the cap is very fluid and they can free up a lot of space in 2023 with a few releases — and if they would be willing to give up a premium pick for Moore.
Having said all of that, adding Moore would instantly improve the Dallas Cowboys to contender status and would be worth making a run at.
