3 trade targets for the Kansas City Chiefs at the NFL Trade Deadline
By Randy Gurzi
1. Elijah Moore, WR, New York Jets
A second-round pick out of Ole Miss in 2021, Elijah Moore had a good rookie season with 43 receptions for 538 yards and five touchdowns for the New York Jets. This season, he’s had 16 catches for 203 yards but has yet to score a touchdown. And if he had his way, he wouldn’t do so with the Jets.
Moore recently requested a trade — which got Rex Ryan unbelievably upset, almost as if the request was a personal attack on his character. Moore was then held out of their Week 7 game and while New York doesn’t seem ready to make a deal, that could change soon.
If so, the Chiefs could use his services. Right now, their receiving corps is headed up by JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Mecole Hardman. They did draft Skyy Moore but he has just six catches thus far.
Overall, the wideouts have been fine for the Cheifs but not overly impressive. Smith-Schuster leads them with 494 yards on 34 receptions but MVS has just 22 catches and Hardman is at 19. Adding Moore would be an upgrade for them while putting another deep threat on the field for Mahomes to get the ball to.
With New York at 5-2, they’re in the mix for the playoffs so they might prefer to send Moore to the NFC but if the Kansas City Chiefs can pry him away, it would be a lot of fun to see him in this offense.
