A number of popular NFL players received large extensions or new contracts in 2022. Several of these players are not living up to the amount they are being whether it’s due to performance, injury, or a combination of the two.

Let’s take a look at five NFL players that are not living up to their massive contracts in 2022.

NFL player no. 5: Chandler Jones, DE, Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders. player. Scouting Report. DE. Chandler Jones. 5. 28. Pick Analysis

Contract: 3 years/$51 million

Chandler Jones, a five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion, was brought to the Las Vegas Raiders to play opposite defensive end Maxx Crosby and wreak havoc across the defensive line. Currently, the only member of the Las Vegas Raiders truly causing significant disruption on that line is Maxx Crosby. Jones finished the 2021 NFL season with 10.5 sacks and six forced fumbles. Jones so far has logged 1/2 a sack and zero forced fumbles. Jones has assembled a series of pressures, in particular against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5, and is a contributor in run defense.

Jones’ contract of $51 million, with $32 million guaranteed, is a steep price to pay for contributing 1/2 a sack over 6 games. Jones needs to break out over the remaining 11 games if he wants to justify this contract.
