3. Green Bay Packers

The Packers don’t really have a clear and obvious connection to Brandin Cooks throughout the course of his NFL career. They are just currently one of the NFL teams that is obviously most desperate for help at the wide receiver position.

Aaron Rodgers was facedown on the ground during the Packers’ most recent loss to the Washington Commanders. Things simply are not going how the back-to-back MVP thought they would after he signed the richest contract in NFL history on an average annual value basis. The Packers need help at the receiver position, and Cooks can provide it.

Given Cooks’ history and having played for coaches like Sean McVay, he has plenty of history in the type of offense Matt LaFleur and company run in Green Bay. The fit would be pretty seamless and Cooks would be a desperately-needed veteran presence at the position after the departure of Davante Adams.

4. Cincinnati Bengals

This is a long shot because it’s really just not how the Cincinnati Bengals operate, but how serious is this team about getting back to the Super Bowl? The Bengals don’t have an immediate or pressing need for receivers — they have the best trio in the entire NFL. But this is a long season, and right now, the Bengals’ best offensive player — Ja’Marr Chase — is dealing with an injury that is considered “week-to-week”.

The Bengals definitely can’t have a dropoff at the receiver position in the event that Chase or anybody else has to miss time. Trading for Cooks would absolutely be a short-term overreaction but it could pay off for Cincinnati in the long run. Zac Taylor was with the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff when they acquired Cooks in a trade a few years ago, so he’s got plenty of familiarity with him as well.
