The AFC West will be the best conference in the entire NFL in 2022 and beyond.

There were so many predictions about how great the AFC West was going to be in 2022 but so far through eight weeks, the West seems more like Will Smith’s Wild Wild West…all hype and nothing more.

We talked about the Broncos’ problems with Russell Wilson but it wasn’t just the addition of Wilson that had the talking heads predicting big things from the West.

Josh McDaniels is back in the NFL as a head coach but the Raiders so far look every bit of a disaster. The Raiders are a bad football team with good talent. DaVonte Adams was supposed to be the best WR pickup in the NFL this off-season but the Derek Carr has yet to really get him utilized to the point of an advantage.

The Raiders are sitting at the bottom of the division with a paltry two wins, one game behind the Broncos.

Kansas City has hardly missed a beat and there is no surprise that they are atop the division at 5-3 but the Chargers have been a big disappointment as well. Justin Herbert may have lost many of his top targets but their offense doesn’t look good and their defense isn’t winning football games either. Settled in as the 2nd best team in the division, the Chargers are above .500 at 4-3 but their season has been anything but impressive and their four wins have come against the Raiders, Texans, Browns, and Broncos in overtime.

Overall, the AFC West hasn’t looked much different than the last five years.
