The New York Jets would start 0-9 as the worst team in the NFL.

In New York, the Jets would get off to a rough stretch of opening games that would easily put them in position to be the worst team in the league. In fact, many predictions had them losing their first 9 games potentially.

The Jets’ first nine were Baltimore, at Cleveland, Cincinnati, at Pittsburgh, Miami, at Green Bay, at Denver, and at New England. Most in the media predicted the Steelers would be their best chance for their first win of the season.

After losing 24-9 on opening weekend, it looked like the NFL media people were going to be right. The Jets won in week two against a Deshaun Watson-less Browns team but then lost to the Bengals in week three. They won their next four games before losing to the Patriots in week 8.

The Jets are tied for 2nd in the AFC East with five wins. They hold the tie-breaker over the Dolphins who they beat in week five. The Jets are sending a clear message to the league that they are not going to be doormats in the NFL any longer and while they shouldn’t be looking for their first win until after their bye week, they have instead climbed their way back into the playoff chase, although they haven’t climbed back into anything. The Jets have played good football and it has paid off.

The second half of the NFL season is about to start but will anything mentioned prior be changed?

Of all the predictions we have recapped, what could possibly change to make those predictions more likely to be reality? We can assume, safely, that the AFC West isn’t going to change in the next 9 weeks of football and we can also say that Russell Wilson isn’t going to lead the Broncos to a division title.

Can Kyler Murray turn around the Cardinals and change the narrative on his play at quarterback? That’s a tough challenge for him and the Cardinals’ offense.

The only things we know that will remain 100% accurate or in this case 100% wrong as it relates to predictions and will remain that way, the Jets won more than one game and Matt Ryan is not going to lead the Colts to the playoffs. In fact, this might be his last year in the NFL.
