Odell Beckham Jr. caught the first touchdown in the Super Bowl for the Los Angeles Rams against the Cincinnati Bengals. Although he tore his ACL in that game, questions over whether Beckham is still capable of being an impact player are absolutely silly. Whenever Beckham is fully healthy and ready to go, he’s going to be a major asset for some team on their playoff run in 2022. Could that team be the Dallas Cowboys?

The Cowboys have CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, but the wide receiver group needs an upgrade. I was hard on Dallas for staying put at the 2022 NFL trade deadline, and I still think they should have gone out and gotten someone like Brandin Cooks, but Odell Beckham Jr. would be a nice consolation.

Odell Beckham Jr. would be a huge upgrade for the Dallas Cowboys

You can never have too much depth in the NFL, and especially at the wide receiver position. The Dallas Cowboys are one injury away from being a complete mess at the position, and although Beckham might not be ready to actually play for another month, getting him into the building soon and getting him up to speed on the system could be a godsend in late November or early December.

It’s high time people started understanding the importance of the wide receiver position in today’s NFL. Especially to have guys that are consistently difference-makers at that position, we saw just how big the contributions from Beckham were for the Los Angeles Rams last year. Even though that offense flows through Cooper Kupp, the Rams still absolutely needed Beckham when they got him, and they are missing what he brought to the table this season.

Beckham himself name-dropped the Cowboys when talking about what he’s looking for in his next potential NFL destination…

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy also said he’s always been a “huge fan” of Beckham and that he’s heard so many “excellent, excellent” things about him. Now, those comments from McCarthy don’t mean that Odell signing in Dallas is anymore imminent than him signing with the 49ers, where GM John Lynch also had good things to say about Beckham.

What it means, however, is that there could soon be a bidding war for the services of Beckham from contending teams. The Dallas Cowboys certainly provide Beckham the chance to not only compete for a title this season, but also to get in the spotlight often.
