NFL Disappointments: 1. Russell Wilson isn’t that guy

Broncos country, let’s ride the Russell Wilson train all the way to an early end to the 2022 NFL season. In his second year as General Manager, George Paton traded away the franchise for Russell Wilson in hopes to catch the Kansas City Chiefs. On paper, the trade made sense.

Wilson started two Super Bowls and came away with a ring. For a while, Wilson was thought of as one of the best quarterbacks in the league. The Broncos saw the impact Tom Brady had on the Bucs and Matt Stafford had on the Rams. Unfortunately, head coach Nathaniel Hackett looks like a rookie.

It feels like the Broncos were hoping to get Aaron Rodgers so they hired Hackett to lore him to Denver, epic fail. Hackett looks in over his head as they struggled to win games. The combination of Hackett and Wilson doesn’t mix. Coming into the season no one would have thought the Broncos’ offense would look this bad.

Wilson can’t find a rhythm in the offense which struggles to put points on the board. In Seattle, we were used to a big play to Tyler Lovett or DK Metcalf. That’s not the case in Denver. Jerry Jeudy hasn’t lived up to his potential.

Meanwhile, Courtland Sutton was set to have a breakout season, but he’s on pace to have yet another average year. Worse yet, is how well Geno Smith is playing as Wilson’s replacement. Smith looks like the quarterback the Broncos thought they were getting. The Broncos might be having buyer’s remorse.
