2022 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 12
Chicago Bears (3-8) at New York Jets (6-4)
Sunday, November 27, 1:00 ET
The Chicago Bears have had a really frustrating month or so on top of the frustrating 3-8 record they “boast” at this point in the 2022 season. Over the last four or five weeks, the offense led by coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterback Justin Fields has made some impressive strides. Fields has become a dynamic weapon and is improving as a passer, but despite the increase in offensive productivity and points scored, the Bears are still losing games.
What’s weird is that early in the season, this was a team that was grinding out some tough wins despite poor offensive production. Now that the offensive output is there, the defense has been letting the team down.
Chicago Bears last five weeks, offensively
- Week 7: 33 points (win vs. Patriots)
- Week 8: 29 points (loss)
- Week 9: 32 points (loss)
- Week 10: 30 points (loss)
- Week 11: 24 points (loss)
A lot of teams would kill to have 29 or more points in four of their last five games. Just ask the Denver Broncos or Indianapolis Colts. The Bears have the offense moving the ball and scoring, but they can’t stop the other team from doing the same.
Fortunately for them, they are about to take on one of the most incompetent offenses in the NFL and one of the league’s worst quarterbacks in Week 12 with a road matchup against the New York Jets. Wilson has been bad enough in recent weeks that a lot of people are thinking the Jets would be better off with Joe Flacco right now, and given the fact that the playoffs are on the line, that’s hard to argue. Wilson has truly been that bad.
If the Jets make a switch and go with Flacco this week, I think they are probably going to win this game by a field goal. But at the time of this writing, it’s Justin Fields vs. his 2021 classmate Zach Wilson. Given how well the Bears’ offense has played the last five weeks, I’m taking the Bears on the road, even against Robert Saleh’s strong defense.
Prediction: Bears win 25-19
