Odell Beckham, Jr. is Cowboys best path to the Super Bowl

The Dallas Cowboys remain one of the favorites to sign Odell Beckham, Jr., and doing so is the best way for them to finally get back to the Super Bowl
Odell Beckham, Jr. is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered while winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in February. He’s nearing his return, however, and that means suitors are beginning to make their pitches to land his services for the remainder of the season.
One of the favorites to make the move is the Dallas Cowboys, who have a self-created hole at wide receiver after foolishly trading away Amari Cooper in the offseason. Beckham and the Cowboys are set to meet on Dec. 5, but they’ve already had some conversations.
Team owner Jerry Jones said those discussions have gone well, saying OBJ’s interest is “genuine.” He also added that they have to put together a good finish this season and that having Beckham is “important.”
Of course, there’s been a huge concern with the Cowboys in recent years — what will they pay? OBJ hasn’t been shy that he wants to get paid but with Stephen Jones taking more control of the personnel decisions, Dallas has become very frugal.
Perhaps this will be one of the times when Jerry Jones steps in and overrides his son, and he should because the veteran minimum and a star on the helmet that Stephen Jones loves to offer won’t cut it. Adding Beckham is the best way for Dallas to get back to their winning ways in the postseason.
He’s a game-changer at wideout who would be incredibly dangerous across from CeeDee Lamb. He would also make life easier on Lamb as well as Michael Gallup who could thrive due to teams focusing more heavily on the two big-name wideouts.
Did Odell Beckham plane incident alter Cowboys plans?
Beckham was in the news for the wrong reasons recently as it was reported that he was asked to leave a plane after an initial refusal to buckle his seat belt. Dallas has made it clear that changes nothing in their pursuit.
There will be detractors that claim Beckham is a distraction and will hurt the locker room but that narrative’s overstated. Not only do the New York Giants want him back after trading him to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 but Cleveland also saw that he wasn’t the problem after he left.
In fact, most of the players went out of their way to show their support for him once he was released last season. Throw in the fact that Dallas has a strong leader in Dak Prescott and there’s no reason for concern. Instead, they should be all-in as they could make up for their mistake of trading Cooper — and doing nothing at the deadline — by adding another explosive player that can help them overtake the Eagles in the NFC.
