Former Arizona Cardinal defensive back and current Minnesota Viking Patrick Peterson has made it clear that he has issues with his former organization, specifically the general manager Steve Keim, for allegedly not communicating prior to his free agency. This week however Peterson has made comments about another Cardinal, this time it is quarterback Kyler Murray.

On Peterson’s podcast (coincidental isn’t it?) “All Things Covered” Peterson and his co-host Bryant McFadden discuss the current issues with the Cardinals, specifically related to Kyler Murray calling the team “schematically f*****” after their recent loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Peterson states that he believes Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsberry will be the scapegoat for the team’s issues and doubles down by stating “Kyler Murray don’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray.”

For the full clip:

Social media went crazy after Peterson made his comments and Kyler Murray himself responded quickly challenging Peterson’s claim.

It doesn’t appear that many of Kyler Murray’s teammates jumped up to defend him. Defensive end JJ Watt, safety Budda Baker, running back James Conner, and even wide receiver and former college teammate Marquise Hollywood Brown, all starters who are actively around Murray have been silent so far about the Peterson comments.

One teammate appears to be sticking up for Murray, star receiver Deandre Hopkins. Hopkins posted on his Twitter account “You don’t kick a man when he’s already down” and later posted what appeared to be a direct message to Peterson:

The silence from the remaining players on the team is something to note, however.

One could argue that Murray may have some selfish tendencies from his brief contract holdout during the offseason, the letter from his agent regarding his desire for financial compensation, and the reports trickling out of Glendale that Murray is not a “first guy in, last guy out” type of quarterback. The former clause in Murray’s extension requiring him to study film four hours a week was also a sign that he may not be the most prepared or responsible quarterback. The clause in itself was unique and unusual as many former players and agents reported never seeing that clause included in a contract before this one.

While there could be credibility to Peterson’s statements one cannot help but ignore that there may be some bias to his comments as Peterson has made his personal issues with the organization public and at one time wanted to remain a Cardinal and to play with Murray.

Hopefully more of Murray’s teammates, both current and former, will step up and either confirm or deny Peterson’s statements.
