2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys add more defense, Seahawks grab QB
By Randy Gurzi
20. New England Patriots: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
Just when it looked as though Mac Jones would turn things around, he had another game to forget in Week 13 as the Bills were able to make it look easy against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. It’s still too early for them to give up on Jones, and they also have Bailey Zappe who looked promising when he was on the field.
No matter who ends up the starter in 2023, the Patriots will again need a strong defense in order to succeed. That’s why they add Bryan Bresee from Clemson with the 20th pick overall, Bresee is listed at 6-foot-5 and 300-pounds and is capable of playing on the edge in the Pats’ three-man front but can also slide inside when they’re in the nickel.
21. Seattle Seahawks: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
When they were on the clock at No. 2 overall, the Seahawks could have taken Bryce Young — but that doesn’t feel like a Pete Carroll move. Instead, he bolstered his defensive line, and then with their pick at No. 21, he grabs a developmental player who has an insanely high ceiling.
Anthony Richardson was supposed to break out this season and while that didn’t happen, he still has more athletic talent than any quarterback in this class. Seattle would be an excellent place for him to land since they currently have Geno Smith and wouldn’t need to rush Richardson onto the field.
Here, he can develop under a professional coaching staff and if they can get him to reach his potential, he would be considered a steal down the road.
