2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys add more defense, Seahawks grab QB
By Randy Gurzi
12. Las Vegas Raiders: Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina
Cam Smith is a highly-competitive defensive back who plays with plenty of physicality. The 6-foot, 188-pound South Carolina product excels in man coverage and while he doesn’t have the same hype as Jaycee Horn did, he could be just as good of a pro.
Smith has six career picks and 18 pass defenses with 2021 serving as his best statistical season — he had three of those interceptions and 11 pass breakups.
Las Vegas has been a major disappointment this season but all they can do is try and look forward and try to rebuild their roster. Improving their secondary is a solid start, especially in a division that has Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Russell Wilson. Well, maybe we don’t need to mention Wilson anymore.
13. Indianapolis Colts: Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia
Two cornerbacks in a row come off the board as the Indianapolis Colts take Kelee Ringo at No. 13. Ringo is arguably the best athlete at the position but he’s not as technically sound as Christian Gonzalez or Cam Smith. That’s why he’s still here for the Colts and if they can get his technique cleaned up, they would have an elite defensive back on their hands.
Pairing him with Stephon Gilmore will help him develop since he would be able to see how one of the best in the game prepares throughout the season.
