5. Carolina Panthers

The final team to go the Johnny Cash route is the Carolina Panthers who also broke out the black for their alternate helmet. And much like the Cardinals, theirs really works.

The Carolina blue is a great color anyway and it looks even better on this helmet. What really makes this one stand out though is the fact that the Panther logo is simply a silhouette. Making it less “busy” was a great call. It’s also nice to see something different for Carolina, a rather young franchise that has had a very consistent style since 1995.

4. New York Giants

Where the Jets got it wrong, the Giants got it right.

All Gang Green had to do was pay some respect to the past and it would have looked great. That’s what the Giants did as they brought back the helmet they wore back when Bill Parcells was the coach and Lawrence Taylor was terrorizing opposing quarterbacks. They then debuted them in the aptly-named legacy game.

3. Dallas Cowboys

There are plenty of football fans that don’t like the Dallas Cowboys‘ alternate helmet. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, this one is dead wrong.

Okay, so that might be extreme but it’s also no secret that there’s a lot of hate thrown the way of America’s Team due to their popularity. And during the early days, they sported the white helmet with white pants. That’s the look they brought back this season for their Thanksgiving Day game and it makes the holiday feel normal — just like watching Detroit lose early in the day does.

It’s beyond simple but it’s nostalgic which is always a plus when using any alternate uniform.
