The New York Giants have been trending in the wrong direction over the past couple of weeks as they lost to the Detroit Lions followed by the Dallas Cowboys. They could have used a win this weekend against the Washington Commanders but instead wound up with a tie.

They had the lead until just under two minutes left as Jahan Dotson took a Taylor Heinicke pass 28 yards to the house to tie it up and force overtime. An uneventful extra period came down to a 58-yard kick from Graham Gano which was short.

Now at 7-4-1, New York will have to host the red-hot Eagles in Week 14 and then get a rematch with the Commanders in Week 15. They could have made a run in the east but now, they just have to hope not to fall to the bottom.

11. Washington Commanders

As if the NFC East wasn’t crowded enough, the New York Giants and Washington Commanders went ahead and tied in Week 13. The Commanders are now sitting at 7-5-1, which is the worst record in that division — which is now the best in the league since the Patriots lost on Thursday.

Washington started out 1-4 but turned things around when they put Taylor Heinicke in at quarterback. They had three wins in a row before this one and while a tie isn’t ideal, they still haven’t lost since Nov. 6 when the Vikings beat them 20-17.

It would be interesting to see what they could have been if they had never added Wentz but at least they’re in line to make a run at the playoffs still. They would have been in much better shape with a win here, but at least they didn’t lose. Right?
