The Buffalo Bills have one of the top offenses in the NFL but one glaring weakness for most of the season has been at wide receiver. The team hasn’t gotten much production from the position outside of Stefon Diggs, who is leading or near the top of the league in most statistical categories for wide receivers.
This is why it is no surprise that Buffalo has been one of the teams linked to Odell Beckham Jr., who is expected to make a decision on his next team in the coming days.
Buffalo Bills wishing they would have added other WRs?
The hope entering this year was that Gabe Davis, entering his third season and coming off a record-setting performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, could take that next step and be that number two wide receiver. Unfortunately, his performance has been inconsistent and drops have plagued him with seven on the season and a catch rate of only 52.2%.
This wasn’t the only spot that the Bills made a change as they also released Cole Beasley and Isaiah McKenzie replaced him. While McKenzie has had his moments he hasn’t been that reliable safety blanket for Josh Allen that Beasley was.
General manager Brandon Beane didn’t avoid the position entirely and did sign Jamison Crowder as a free agent. Unfortunately, Crowder suffered a broken ankle and has missed most of the season.
While we have the benefit now of hindsight, there were a few wide receivers on the market that could have made sense for the Bills and would have been good options to help address these issues.
