Philadelphia Eagles (12-1) at Chicago Bears (3-10)

Sunday, December 18, 1:00 PM ET

At this point, does “well-oiled machine” even begin to cover it when talking about the Philadelphia Eagles? This team is simply the best in the NFL right now. Over the course of the 2022 season, we’ve seen the Eagles’ dominance take on a variety of forms. This team has been dominant as a passing team, running team, defensively, and they do it consistently in every phase.

Jalen Hurts looks like the league MVP. He’s got 32 total touchdowns this season and only three interceptions. For those who remember watching Hurts get replaced in the National Championship game in favor of a freshman Tua Tagovailoa a few years back, isn’t it crazy to see how far he’s come?

It’s actually one of the more awesome developments in recent NFL history. Hurts was an afterthought (relatively speaking) in the vaunted 2020 quarterback class which is looking fantastic in hindsight. A second-round pick after transferring to Oklahoma for a season, Hurts has developed into one of the league’s smartest, most dynamic, most accurate quarterbacks.

This Sunday, he’ll take on a rising star in Justin Fields who has had his share of ups and downs as a rookie. Although there have been moments of brilliance with Fields, his second year in the NFL feels like what a typical rookie year for a quarterback should feel like. In Fields’ actual rookie year, the dysfunction of the Bears sort of excused his extremely poor play.

In year two, nobody really knew what to expect from the Bears but Fields has given the Chicago fan base hope that something like what we’re seeing with Hurts in Philly could be possible for them in the relatively near future.

On Sunday however, even with the Bears playing at home, you can expect the Eagles to show once again why they are going to be the favorites to represent the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl. This team is simply too good for Chicago to keep up with unless Justin Fields puts forth a miraculous performance.

Prediction: Eagles win 33-23
