Mike Gesicki

At one time, Mike Gesicki looked like he was ready to move into that top tier of tight ends in the league. It was why the Miami Dolphins were willing to use the franchise tag on Gesicki this past offseason.

However, with the addition of Tyreek Hill and the development of Jaylen Waddle, there hasn’t been much left for the pass-catching tight end. This season, Gesicki has only 24 receptions, 241 receiving yards, and four touchdowns and is on pace to have his worst season since his rookie year.

The past three games in particular have shown just how much his role has diminished in this offense with only four total targets and zero catches during that stretch. This is not ideal for a player entering free agency and it’s hard to understand why he isn’t involved more for a team that has struggled a bit on offense and lost their last two games.

If Mike McDaniels is able to get Mike Gesicki more involved in this offense it not only should help the Dolphins this season but will give Gesicki a chance to show what he is capable of at the position.
