The Las Vegas Raiders just had their latest walk-off win of the 2022 NFL season. Were it not for a series of blown leads earlier in the season, the Raiders might have a reputation as one of the most exciting teams in the NFL. In the most shocking fashion, Josh McDaniels has notched his second victory over Bill Belichick as a head coach in the NFL, but he undoubtedly thought his team would need overtime to get it done.

With overtime looming, Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers decided to start a lateral party instead of just play for overtime, and it ended up costing his team the game. Meyers attempted to lateral the ball across the field when former Patriots pass rusher Chandler Jones snatched the ball out of the air…

Chandler Jones gives the Raiders the win with a miraculous play

This is a stunning play. Can Chandler Jones play a little tight end, too?

First of all, Jones makes an incredible catch to take the ball away, but the stiff-arm he puts on Mac Jones is legendary. Poster material. It doesn’t matter that he’s a huge defensive end and that Jones is a quarterback. The fact that Chandler Jones just decided to plant Mac Jones in the ground like that is one of the coolest plays you will see as a football fan.

Seriously, all that was missing from that stiff arm was the Mortal Kombat narrator giving us a “finish him” right before it happened. This is just an epic play, one that will go down in NFL history as one of the best of all-time.

Raiders recent late-game heroics

The Raiders have put together a string of impressive walk-off wins in recent weeks. Let’s take a look at some of their late-game heroics in a season that will ultimately be defined by late-game failures for Las Vegas.

  • Davante Adams walk-off reception vs. Denver Broncos in Week 11
  • Josh Jacobs walk-off 86-yard run vs. Seattle Seahawks in Week 12
  • Chandler Jones walk-off “fumble recovery” vs. New England Patriots in Week 15

That win puts the Raiders at 6-8 and in the thick of a very ugly AFC playoff race right now. As bizarre as it may seem, the Raiders still have a shot as we sit here with a few weeks remaining in the season. Those playoff odds are unlikely, but the Raiders took care of business against the Patriots, getting a clutch late touchdown from Derek Carr to Keelan Cole followed by the Chandler Jones play.
